Addison’s has been one of my favorites for years. Even when there is a 30-minute wait because the “kids” are back and want to have a nice dinner out for their first week in Columbia on Mom and Dad’s credit card. Can’t blame them, Addison’s makes for a great night out.

You can find Adison’s in the heart of The District on Cherry Street. The décor and artwork will remind you of Sophias on the other side of town. Addison’s is Sophias little brother and has a similar feel. Beautiful local artwork from David Spear along with exposed beams, large booths and a lively bar create a comfy and hip vibe.

Adisons PastaAn abundance of delicious food covers the entire menu. Starting with my personal favorite Crab Rangoon Dip or Tempura Lobster Ravioli the appetizers alone are sure to have you coming back for a quick bite. The combination of crab and cream cheese hits your table warm, sided with carrots, broccoli, celery, and wonton chips. This is a must try for first time visitors.

Whether you come in for lunch, after work, or for a nice dinner the food will always be perfect. Sandwiches, salads, steak, seafood, and pasta are all up for grabs. A lengthy list of wines lies on every table and will complement every meal. Mango Mahi Mahi, Raspberry Port Beef Tenderloin, Citrus and Herb Roasted Chicken, Chicken Asiago Pasta and Diablo Shrimp Pasta are just a few of Addison’s excellent choices.

My personal favorite, that I could eat over and over again, has to be the Diablo Shrimp Pasta. Fresh shrimp sautéed in spicy Diablo butter and tossed with a creamy marinara sauce, mushrooms, and penne pasta. As a fan of spicy foods this pasta hits all the right spots for me. Smooth pasta sauce with a slight kick cover thick shrimp and penne pasta. Your “kick” can be up to you as well; Addison’s offers three different spicy choices.

Addisons PizzaThe Mediterranean Pizza is also a favorite combining many different flavors and textures. Artichokes, romas, kalamata olives, onions, fresh basil, and asiago sauce are all topped with mozzarella, feta, and a sweet balsamic reduction on a freshly baked pizza. It’s creativity makes for a great looking and tasting pizza.

Addison’s even offers a twist on Happy Hour. Forget the regular Happy Hours around town and come out a little later. From 10pm to midnight Addison’s offers drink and appetizer specials every night of the week. It makes for a great place to start or end your night.

Hip, cool, vibrant, trendy and a list of many more words can define Addison’s American Grill. They serve up great food with a twist in an atmosphere that most restaurants try to mimic. Stroll through The District and stop at Addison’s, even if there is a bit of a wait you know why, and it’s worth it.
