Chris McD’s has been around for a while with great word of mouth for as long as can remember. I was glad to visit a Mid Missouri favorite just a few days ago.

A brightly colored mural greets you when you first walk in. Head toward the dining room and a lively bar is to your right full of laughter and drinks. The rest of Chris McD’s is dimly lit and filled with warm colors both on the walls and fabrics. Booths line the walls and tables fill the rest of the classic décor, which has a slight Italian feel.
In addition to Chris McD’s regular favorite they
also offer seasonal favorites throughout the year. You can start your
meal off with smoked chicken croquettes, applewood
smoked salmon with a pineapple-mango salsa,
or Ahi poke napoleon. The Ahi is fresh #1 grade sushi marinated
in sesame soy vinaigrette and is a perfect way to start your
night at Chris McD’s.
The everyday menu offers great selections for any night out. Grilled beef tenderloin filet with sautéed rock shrimp is a Chris McD’s favorite. The Prosciutto wrapped jumbo sea scallops are served with shiitake mushrooms and spiced tomato butter. The roasted chicken pasta with fusilli erupted with flavor from a mixture of roma tomatoes, peas, spinach, and fresh herbs.
The seasonal additions included only fresh ingredients, seafood, and local produce. Even drinks like the fresh fruit martinis and Pomegranate lemonade are only available for a short time. Other offerings that are not around all year include grilled Escolar, peppercorn crusted ribeye and Alaskan king crab legs.
It
might be hard to find room on you table for an entrée with candles
and warm bread but making room is well worth it. My crab stuffed
Cajun Alaskan Halibut is not only a mouthful to say but also
a sight to behold. Chris McD’s Halibut is busting
with crabmeat and set atop creamy corn andouille polenta
and a bed of sautéed spinach. A wonderful crust leads the way to
a tender Halibut. The lump crabmeat stuffing was fresh and fused
well with the Halibut and polenta.
Chris McD’s offers another choice for your next lunch or dinner besides the run of the mill national chains. With menu selections that exceeded expectations all year round you should make a Chris McD’s your next locally owned place to visit. Great word of mouth doesn’t happen by accident, go see for yourself at Chris McD’s.
