Sky Hi Bar & Grill popped up in Columbia not to long ago. Both locations are quickly becoming an after work favorite. Spacious, fun and offering a little something for everyone, Sky Hi can become a favorite of yours too.

We dove into the South location on Old 63 and were seated in one of Sky Hi’s many tables. A huge bar and kitchen area is to the right with a pool table and dartboards tuck away towards the back. The bar is backed with a huge rock wall, loaded with several beer taps and a peak into the kitchen. The contemporary look flows over Sky Hi and is spotted with flat screens at every angle.

Sky Hi’s menu isn’t just your ordinary “throw it in the fryer” bar food. Three Cheese Artichoke Dip or Calamari can start your meal. Sky Hi has great wings. Great may be an understatement though as their wings won “Best of Columbia 2005”. The Thai-Curry Glazed wings are uniquely different and served with a peanut ginger sauce. One taste will make it clear why they won best wings. They are sweet, sticky and have just a dash of heat thanks to the peanut ginger sauce.

Sky Hi is full of daily specials for lunch, dinner, or drinks every day. This evening we could grab a 9-inch pizza and a pitcher for just 8 bucks, and we did. The huge brick wall dividing the bar and kitchen also plays host to Sky Hi’s brick oven. Our pizza came fresh out of the oven pilled high with cheese and pepperoni. With just a dash of Parmesan each slice was just right. Crisp homemade crust, thick pepperoni, and gooey cheese made this a pizza hard to beat in Columbia.

Besides their marvelous pizzas Sky Hi also serves up sandwiches, steaks, and pasta, and even a few dessert choices. We decided to finish the meal with a caramel fudge pecan cake. It was impressive. All the aforementioned ingredients plus whipped cream, strawberries, and chocolate sauce. As a chocolate lover this dessert should win it’s own award! Thick brownie like layers rest under a drizzle of caramel and pecans bordered by whipped cream. Each bite was better than the last.

Sky Hi is being coming a favorite because it’s hard to find something wrong. A relaxed, comforting atmosphere with wonderful food will always be a favorite. Add on their daily specials and happy hour deals and you just might find yourself coming back to Sky Hi before you know it.
