Our trip 20 minutes west of Columbia took us to Boonville Missouri this past week. We would be dinning at Glenn’s Café in the Frederick Hotel. Downtown Boonville offers something for everyone, shopping, restaurants, antiquing or just a stroll up Main Street.

The Hotel Frederick is a quick throwback to decades ago. Black and white marble floors, large seating area in the lobby and a grand fireplace welcome you in. Walking into Glenn’s Café wood floors span the entire dining room while white columns reach to the pressed tin ceilings. Large full windows provide sunlight in and great views onto historic Boonville out.

The Glenn’s Café menu covers appetizers, salads, specialties, sandwiches and entrées. Seafood, beef, pork along with vegetarian dishes will fit most any palate at Glenn’s Cafe. Even an extensive wine list will meet you at the table.

We started our meal off with Smoked Crawfish-Andouille Cakes. The cakes are a spicy mix between crab cakes and hush puppies. The Andouille, a smoked sausage, is combined with Crawfish and fried to a crisp brown. An abundance of favor comes with each bite, spicy then finished off with a slight sweetness.

The specialties at Glenn’s Café start with Chicken Tchoupitoulas, Trout Sombart Hall, Shrimp Creole, Blackened Redfish, and the Steak Fredrick. Glenn’s steak Fredrick would be on my plate this evening. Grilled pepper bacon wrapped around a thick beef tenderloin steak made an adventurous trip to my table pilled high with fried tobacco onions rings and a side of garlic mashed potatoes.

Glenn’s Café cooked the Steak Frederick to a beautiful medium rare. It was juicy, tender, and topped with a bleu cheese glacage then drizzled with a superb home made Worchester sauce. Every bite was an exceptional display of flavor and originality from Glenn’s Café.

The abundance of creativity on Glenn’s menu is worth a stop in historic Boonville. Take note of the architecture of the Frederick while you stroll into Glenn’s Café and enjoy a great meal.
