Coco Pazzo - Posted 3/22/07
This past Tuesday was the second time I’ve visited Moberly for diner. And for the second time I was more than surprised. Coco Pazzo was an extraordinary restaurant that had every detail just right.
One
of the finest Italian restaurants in Mid Missouri had the perfect touch
with their décor. Stucco walls wrap around the dining room framing
a wonderful arbor that brings an outdoor garden indoors. Italian music
fills the air while plants and sconces hang on the wall. Even an antique
street lamp makes for an interesting sight. The dark colors and attention
to detail create a warm feel throughout Coco Pazzo.
Wine is offered by the glass or bottle at Coco Pazzo and we decided to go the bottle route with a 2005 Bell’Agio “Wicker Basket” Chianti. The dry red is a perfect match for meats and pasta as we soon would find out. Along with fresh breadsticks that keep appearing we started our meal off with Shrimp Liornese. Large succulent shrimp wound around the plate bathing in a sherry wine cream sauce with a hint of nutmeg. This was a magnificent Antipasto to begin our Coco Pazzo evening.
Many
different choices can be found inside Coco Pazzo’s menu. Everything
from Chicken Picatta and Salsiccia Marco Polo (Italian sausage with
peppers and onions) to Pasta Primavera and Penne Rustica can delight
your taste buds. I decided to go with a classic that I haven’t
had in quite some time, the Lasagna Bolognese. I soon found myself staring
at a generous helping of lasagna. The layers were split between meat,
ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Each bite seemed to melt in my mouth
and the next was always better than the last. It takes time and determination
to make lasagna stand out and Coco Pazzo had this version standing tall
and proud.
Coco
Pazzo’s Tiramisu was on the way for dessert and we had just enough
Chianti to join it. Other dessert choices consist of homemade cheesecake
and lemon tart. The interwoven layers of the Tiramisu were flaky and
the creamy topping made this a great treat. The coffee flavor is what
makes Tiramisu, some are to strong and some not enough. Coco Pazzo had
it just right, bold enough to taste and subtle enough to not put your
fork down.
With the details just right it’s easy to find customers. But if you get the food just right happy customers will come back again and again. Coco Pazzo should be at the top of your list to visit. I was unsuspecting of the powerful punch this Italian restaurant would have but I left realizing that sometimes what you least expect is just what you needed.
