Bambino's Italian Cafe - Posted 2/1/07
This is not the first time I’ve been to Bambino's and it certainly won’t be the last. Bambino's has been sitting at Hitt and Locust for years. They have a quaint dinning area and an outstanding private patio that can accommodate any size parties. My party made our trip to Bambino's last Thursday.
Bambino's
has fun mix of people and atmosphere. You’ll always find a blend
of college students, professionals, and anybody that knows what Bambino's
offers. Your eyes will dart from one photo to the next. Where else can
you find Babe Ruth, Miles Davis, Marilyn Monroe, Harry Carey and Stan
Musial all in one place? The dining room is square with a big screen
TV tuck away in the left corner, for all your Mizzou sports, and a bar
lines the right. White and green vinyl tabletops dot Bambinos dining
room making a basic look for delicious food.
Bambino's is the place for
specials.
They have dinner, lunch, low carb, and drink specials under 8 dollars
everyday of the week. Their menu offers everything from house pastas
and custom pastas to pizza and subs. Any pasta you want can be found
at Bambino's, Cavatelli, Fettucini, Spaghetti, Rotini, and Penne to
name a few. Top it off with one of 12 sauces and you can have yourself
an incredible meal. Even make your own thin and crispy pizza for under
six bucks.
We started with Italian Hot Wings and a complementary basket of fresh bread. The wings may not be the hottest in town but they are full of flavor. Breaded in Italian spices the wings come out crispy and juicy. Bambino's can also start your meal off with garlic cheese bread, mozzarella sticks, and toasted ravioli.
For
my dinner I took the Thursday special. Cannelloni Florentine, large
tubular noodles stuffed with veal and spinach baked in zesty marinara
and topped with cream sauce. The portions at Bambino's are always filling
no matter what you get. The plate in front of me hosted 4 large tube
noodles exploding with Veal and Spinach. I sat up straight, took a deep
breath and went for it. The Veal Spinach mix was absolutely great. The
smooth and creamy texture blended wonderfully with the noodles. I’m
proud to say I worked my way through the Cannelloni Florentine until
I couldn’t go anymore.
Bambino's Italian Café also has a large selection of wine and beer to join your food. I topped my dinner off with a Peroni beer which is imported from Italy and finishes very clean and crisp. Other options that can conclude your time at Bambino's would be cheesecake and Spumoni.
I have never left Bambino's hungry, ever. Even when you give up your plate still feels like ten pounds. Bambinos Italian Café is the perfect place to get your moneys worth. The perfect place for that laid back lunch or dinner. Between classes, after work or with friends on the weekend Bambinos is a place that you should visit soon and often. See the menu!
