Cafe Berlin offers the type of choices that a health conscious city, like Columbia, strives for. With many organic fruits and veggies Cafe Berlin is able to serve fresh, nutritious and tasty food everyday. At the corner of Providence and Walnut you should pop in to see what fresh really means.
Cafe Berlin is casually laid back with just a slight air of sophistication. You'll find an older couple sipping on coffee just a few tables away from a college kid reading Chuck Klosterman and enjoying the free wi-fi on his Mac. Local artwork, which is for sale, hangs thru out the Cafe. With the kitchen and staff bustling to the right the dinners sit wood tables that fill space on the left. Cafe Berlin is bigger than you might expect from the deceiving outside, but from inside it looks different at every angle.
Strolling in around 11am the faint aroma of breakfast hung in the air. Lucky for me breakfast is served until 3pm. I finally picked just the right combination for my growling stomach, the Southern Breakfast. 2 free-range eggs served up any style you want with half biscuit & gravy and your choice of Patchwork ham, bacon, or sausage. No offense to Grandma but these might just be the best biscuits and gravy I've had. Thick sausage gravy smothers large homemade biscuits that come complete with scrambled eggs and crispy Patchwork Farms bacon.
Besides the Southern for breakfast Cafe Berlin dishes up vast choices. Mediterranean breakfast, Huevos Rancheros, Menemen Turkish eggs, Pancake Burrito, The Yankee Breakfast plus a slew off other scrumptious choices. Add a large selection of omelets and you might need a minute or two before you order.
Cafe Berlin's lunch menu also provides fresh selections from the normal "please pull around". Black Bean Quesadillas, Hummus wrap, Asian Stir-Fry, and an Open-faced Grilled Vegetable sandwich are just a few decisions that face you. Soups, salads and an abundance strong organic coffees, espressos, lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos fill out the rest of Cafe Berlin's impressive menu.
Whether it's for taste, health, or just to try something local and different Cafe Berlin fits the bill. An outstanding restaurant that sets out to prove a little TLC can go a long way.
