Amazing Food. Amazing Service. One of a kind experience. From the minute my wife and I walked down the trail to the point overlooking the Missouri River, we were impressed. After enjoying the view outside we entered the restaurant where the bartender immediately welcomed us and a smiling hostess waited to seat us. It was our 20th wedding anniversary and although there were no available window seats, most of the tables including ours still had an excellent view. Light Jazz in the background and a candle on the table to go with such a beautiful view provided perfect ambiance. My wife and I love dining and before we even ordered drinks or tried food, we were having a great time. Our server was Nicole and she was extremely friendly, professional, prompt, and knowledgeable. We tend to have many questions about wines and food when we go out and Nicole was able to describe the food and its preparations without batting an eye as well as recommend several wines for us. We enjoyed her recommendations and she even brought out a couple tastes for us to try. The rest is history as our appetizer, a Gorgonzola cheesecake concoction, lived up to the hype and was delicious! My beef tenderloin was simply perfect with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and an extremely tasty sauce...all a man could want in a good steak. My wife ordered the scallops, and they were absolutely exquisite. Nicole offered us dessert and we had to decline because we were quite full, until she described their billionaire's coffee. We sipped the tasty drink slowly as the sun slipped below the horizon. I can't think of a more perfect setting. The only thing missing so far is the Green Flash :) Throughout our dinner, it was apparent that the staff really enjoys what they do. From the bartender to the host to the servers to the tall gentleman that brought us waters and cleared our plates, everyone was friendly and professional. Their enthusiasm really carried over and rubbed off on us. For the memorable experience, great food and service, the price was actually quite moderate, and this level of service and delicious food at a reasonable cost made Les Bourgeois our new favorite restaurant. This was our first time visiting the Bistro and is definitely the first of many. This is truly a Mid-Missouri gem and I will be taking all of my out of town guests here to impress. I would recommend everybody to come experience this little hidden treasure! Cheers!

I work in a retail store that happens to sell the Les Bourgeois wines and thought I would swing by their vineyard/bistro while on vacation. Stopped by around 2p.m. for some wine and a very light lunch, as I had reservations elsewhere and simply wanted something to tide me and my friend over. I figured I'd take in some culture and hate to say I was sorely disappointed with my experience. When the waitress got to our table she was very cordial, I asked her what the portion size was on the lunch sandwiches and she replied that they were "good sized and VERY filling". I repeat, she W-A-S very cordial, that W-A-S until I asked to have one of their lunch sandwiches split between myself and my friend (not that I was being cheap, I actually had about $500 cash on me at the time BUT, I was wanting something light, remember?). You could ACTUALLY hear her tone shift from cordial to condescending (i.e. cheapskate), and the experience spiraled downward from there. When the food arrived (your standard bistro grilled chicken sandwich and garlic mashed potatoes on the side, nothing extraordinary and 2 glasses of wine), I was presented with a 2nd empty plate. Perplexed, I asked the waitress that I requested the order to be split to which she replied that I, the CUSTOMER, would be doing the division MYSELF!! This totally floored me. When I asked why it wasn't done in the kitchen, she simply replied "oh, the chefs don't split plates, you'll have to do it yourself" (sarcasm dripping from her voice). Well, having worked in the food service industry myself (Head Bartender at the Overland Park Marriott) I felt I was driven to say something to the manager on duty. Well, out pops "Joe Smiles" who, when told the situation, actually DEFENDED the action of the kitchen by simply saying that it was "common policy" for many establishments in the area to CHARGE to split your plate and since they didn't want to charge me extra, that it was up to me to split the plate.....PLEASE somebody, wake me up from this freaking nightmare! My question is simply this: when you are TRYING to be an UPSCALE bistro and you are TRYING to showcase your wines and vineyards....how HARD is it to have your cooks cut a sandwich in half and divide a portion of mashed potatoes between 2 plates? How much time does it take, 10 seconds, MAYBE? He proceeded to apologize for the waitress yet offered NO recompense (not that I was looking for any), but I would have thought that it might have been appropriate, given my thorough disgust at the situation. BOTTOM LINE: Be prepared to fork over some MAJOR CASH here to get the appropriate response from the staff. Me, I won't be darkening their door anytime soon, NOR will I be recommending their wines at my store.....I'm thinking Stone Hill or maybe St. James instead. Reap what you sow Les Bourgeois!

My husband took me to this restaurant for my birthday. I reserved a table overlooking the river and that was accomodated and the view was alright. Unfortunately the prices were outrageous and it was by far the worst meal I have ever had. My husband had the beef strip steak and I had the cheese manicotti. His steak was merely average quality and had the worst charcoal taste, while his potatoes were mushy and very bland. We raise our own black angus beef and were very dissapointed at the quality of the $30 steak he was served!! My manicotti was cold and basically just a congealed mass with no taste whatsoever. To top it all off I got dessert just to get the charred taste out of my mouth from taking a bite of my husband's steak. I ordered the creme brulee, which I asked for to go (since we had waited an hour and a half to get our dinner and were ready to go home...) but the waitress told me I couldn't have it to go since it comes in a ramekin. She then assured me that it was a "really quick" dessert... I should have taken our wait time for our main course as a hint. After waiting another 15 minutes for it, it TOO tasted charred, plus only the outside was warm, the middle was cold. I make creme brulee at home occasionally and this was a poor imitation at best I was served at Les Bourgeois. Obviously came out of a bucket... Horrible dining experience, just horrible, we were terribly dissapointed. In addition I had pictured a romantic, secluded table. It was anything but, just a steel table set in the middle of a big room, my husband and I could barely hear each other over the din of the restaurant.

I was looking for a nice place to bring my long time girlfriend for our anniversary. I could not be more pleased with my decision to go to Les Bourgeois Bistro. It was my girlfriend and I's first time. We loved the food and had a great table the overlooked the river. The view alone was worth the trip out there. I definitely recommend anyone going there if you are looking for a romantic, elegant meal.

This was not my first visit to the bistro and it will definitely not be my last. I love the decor, wine, view, and especially the food. I love how the menu changes seasonally. I have never ordered something I didnt completly love or that left me unsatisfied. Everytime I have gone to the winery the staff has been very friendly and helpful. If you have not been to the bistro you do not know what you are missing.

Unless you are going just for the wine and view, dont bother. Better food and service can be had elsewhere. Service was horrible, 45 min between sitting down and starting out with the first appetizer. Hostess was snooty when told we would be waiting outside to be seated. Ordered the trout with potatoes and the potatoes were not even cooked, crunchy and gross. If you want top grade service and food, dont waste your time and money here, go somewhere like CC's City Broiler, you will not be disappointed.

I have been to Les Bourgeious multiple times over the past 5 years since moving to Misssouri from Michigan. It has been wonderful to find a place that feels a little like home (although the Missouri River will never be as beautiful as Lake Michigan). The food is amazing and well worth the price for such a treat. I always have something different and leave feeling satisified. Three of my favorite wines are from Les Bourgeios and knowing I am supporting a local vineyard makes it all the more special.

I had heard mixed things, but was overwhelmed by the quality of the food and experience my husband and I enjoyed at Les Bourgeois! Our waiter was friendly, the restaturant was beautiful, the wine was exquisite, and the food was some of the best I've ever had. We will definitely go back, as soon as we can afford it! :)

Upon my wife's urging we decided to try this local gem. Although I have lived in Columbia for many years I had never visited the Bistro. Boy, I wish I knew what I had been missing!! Such a great selection of menu items all utilizing local ingredients. My wife and I enjoyed the sunset over looking the Missouri River while we shared a bottle of their Norton. What a great evening out! I plan on visiting again soon and suggest you do the same!

I have always adored Les Bourgeois. Recently I had some old college friends meet me there for a girls weekend and we had an absolute blast! We started at the A-Frame and sipped some wine and enjoyed the view and finished off the evening with an absolutely incredible dinner at their Bistro. I always recommend Les Bourgeois to friends for a great alternative to the same old dining experience in Columbia. Just wanted to tell you all how much I always enjoy myself out there, see you soon!

the Bistro has been a long time favorite for my family and I. There is no place like it in Columbia, we just love to spend the day out there. The views are spectacular and the food is always impeccable. We always get great service and enjoy our time there. I suggest it for all my out of town guests!

I have been dining at Les Bourgeois for over 7 years now. I am always surprised by the innovative, fresh, and tasty dishes. However, I am more recently discouraged by the lackadaisical service. The servers are unprofessional, sloppy, and quite rude. In a fine dining restaurant, I should hear the phrases "What may I serve you?" instead I've only heard "Anything else" and "That's not allowed." It seems new management has put a dark damper on the restaurant as it's staff are not challenged to provide (what used to be) excellent service. The deceased table decorations were much distasteful. Many come to Les Bourgeois for the great wine, food, and view, unfortunately they can not be as strong in their presentation, appearance, or performance.

This is one of my favorite places.... The tasting room/gift shop offers free tours and tastings daily. The A-frame is an outdoor wine bar with an amazing view, laid back feel and great affordable wines. The bistro serves high quality and pricey food. Overall, Les Bourgeois has something for everyone of any budget and taste. Highly recommend traveling a few miles for a relaxing afternoon or high quality dinner experience.

Last two times I have dined at Les Bourgeios, service was very poor and both times food was cold. Sent it back and appeared to have been stuck in the Microwave. Use to be my favorite spot to dine because of the view, now, I would go to McDonalds (yuk) before I would dine at Les Bourgeios. What a shame, great atmosphere, poor service and cold food.

Not impressed with this restaurant. My partner and I both ordered the KC Strip at $25 a piece. Neither steak served was cooked to the proper temperature requested. One was overcooked and the other undercooked. The side dishes included were grits, and wilted greens. The grits were bland almost inedible. The wilted greens were nothing more than wilted kale. Traditionally kale is not masqueraded as an edible green, and if it is it is very much not the major component of a dish. Very disappointing and poor value for my money. I also ordered a bottle of wine, the waitress chipped the lip of said bottle, and still proceeded to serve it to me. very unimpressed with food, and service. On a positive note, the view however was very pleasant.

My fiance proposed to me on the wine cellar tour. It was the greatest thing ever! We were wanting to get married in a spot outdoors with a water view of some sort. Of course we chose Les Bourgeios!!! Not only is the view from the bluff wonderful, and the food spectacular, but the people are so wonderful as well. We get married this November in 2007. We'll have to let you know how it goes!

My family and I visited Les Bourgeois Bistro this fall and we absolutley fell in love. We had some wine over at the AFrame and then had dinner at their restaraunt. Our server was so knowledgeable and polite and the food was excellent. I love that they use regional distributors. I have recommended it to all my friends. It's so close to Columbia but a great little getaway!
